1. Specify what product you're talking about... ?!
2. As I guess you're about some Networking based project (about server) and those are MFP & MFPS which basically works on Photon.
So, If you're about MFP(S) they both use Cloud based networking engine, which is comfortable & easy to use for most developers, but of course you can create a dedicated server by download Photon's server, but NOTE: Own server could only have 100 CCU limitation... they call it "OnPromise" that gives you way to host server... for 100+ CCU you need to buy new Plan of service.
